The concept of home. Are we all obsessed? or just me? Coming from a broken one, I’ve found myself on a constant journey to repair it. My fascination began as early as 10 years old when I would spend hours measuring and meticulously drawing our home’s layout on graph paper, I thought if I could make our house itself beautiful, then maybe our messy life would also become beautiful. Immersed in daydreams, I would browse the Sears catalog, selecting everything in my dreams to fit my imaginary life. It was my escape from reality and coupled with my love of music, was and still is my favorite kind of therapy. When my friend Nazeli @nazeli_grigorian_escrowofficer gifted my son Elio a dollhouse, I was excited for a tiny and fun remodel. Naturally, I would document it, as I do all of my work and then the idea struck that it might be fun to watch a doll version of me doing the remodel herself. A doll version of my son Elio soon followed and together they transformed their space. I found so much joy creating this and it began to take on a life of it’s own, pulling me to work on it at every chance I had. It unfolded during stolen moments while Elio was at school and many late nights building and creating as he slept. He even helped a bit and learned a thing or two about how stop motion works.
