Depot’s first ever virtual Sunset Ceremony goes live on YouTube at 6 pm (CST) on July 1. This year’s ceremony is dedicated to frontline workers to recognize their unwavering dedication in our communities during the pandemic.
Sunset Ceremonies are public events throughout the summer, but given the dynamics of the pandemic, Depot remains closed to the public. This virtual Sunset Ceremony is our way to share this tradition with members, families and communities across the country in a safe way as well as to show appreciation to frontline workers.
The ceremony is based on the custom of lowering the flag at the end of the working day after all personnel have returned to the post and features cadets performing dismounted drills, including a canon drill.
Thank you to all staff and cadets who helped bring this virtual Sunset Ceremony to life.
