In this video we will calculate the hypotenuse and angles required to layout a building shape using a transit, theodolite, or total station. The idea is that once you know the hypotenuse and the angle, you could pull a measuring tape from a pin directly under the instrument, swing the instrument to align where the angle and the hypotenuse meet and set a pin or make a mark.
