Some journeys begin in darkness… literally. Mrs. Toad and I left our home in Old Town and dropped into the sewers — a maze of narrow concrete corridors where the only light came from the occasional flickering bulb. Most of the tunnels were swallowed in pitch black, and every turn felt like stepping deeper into a place that didn’t want us there. The dead were waiting for us. Some walked. Some ran. All of them used the tight funnels and blind corners to their advantage. Fighting in those cramped spaces — with almost no visibility — turned every encounter into a scramble for survival. It was tense, claustrophobic, and relentless. So, when we finally climbed out of that underground labyrinth, I looked at Mrs. Toad and said exactly what we both needed to hear: “Let’s go to the racetrack.” And just like that, the whole day changed. We headed to the Dirt Racetrack in Addersfield, grabbed the dune buggies, and let the world open up again. Sunlight, dust trails, wide turns, wipeouts, flips, spins — we laughed harder than we have in ages. After the darkness of the sewers, racing those buggies felt like being alive in the purest sense. This episode is a reminder of why we keep surviving: for the moments that make us laugh, breathe, and feel human again.
