Sven Libaek - Inner Space
Originally released in 1973 as the score to Ron and Val Taylor's underwater Australian television Series Inner Space, this amazingly sensuous music not only stands as a paramount representation of the 1970s soundtrack genre but also as an example of the fertile music languishing in an anti-thetic Australia. Considered to be one of the unsung heroes of Australian Film music, Sven Libaek composed for many Australian Films and TV series, most notably in the 1960's and 70's. Inner Space is considered amongst his finest. Conceptually sketching life under the sea, Inner Space is a brilliant example of incidental film music as it is strong Jazz impressionism. Gentle yet propulsive Brazilian rhythms are mirrored with watery moog, fluttering flutes and shimmering vibraphone. Featuring the best of Australian jazz musicians including Don Burrows, John Sangster, George Golla and Errol Buddle they masterfully range from the incidental to the improvisational as they create a whirlpool of sublime aquatic jazz exotica. The episodes are narrated by William Shatner. http://soundcloud.com/spacewalk
