Français : Développer son phrasé et son sens mélodique ne passe pas toujours par la vitesse ou la technique pure. Depuis longtemps, travailler des études pour saxophone fait partie de ma discipline quotidienne. Le souffle du sax impose une autre manière de penser la musique : respirer les phrases, chanter chaque note, laisser vivre les silences. Sur une basse, cela change tout. On ne joue plus seulement des notes… on raconte quelque chose. Le véritable travail musical commence peut-être ici : apprendre à faire chanter son instrument comme une voix intérieure. For me, practicing saxophone studies has remained one of the most powerful daily disciplines. You no longer simply play notes… you begin to tell a story. Perhaps true musical work starts here: learning how to make your instrument sing like an inner voice.
