SWOB unfolds as an intricate rhythmic experiment where structure and chaos intertwine through clocked modulation and evolving pulse relationships. Built around a Pamela’s New Workout master clock, the patch drives Marbles, Nibbler, and 4ms RCD modules, each interpreting the Euclidean rhythms in their own way. By rerouting these clocks into one another, the patch becomes a constantly morphing timing organism — the moment you flip a Nibbler switch, the entire groove pivots in a new direction. Melodically, Marbles handles pitch CV, generating a shifting network of arpeggiated tones as its internal rate pushes against the global beat. The main voice, the Spectraphon from Make Noise, is sculpted through the spectral input fed by SSF Ultra-Perc and Metalloid, giving the tone a raw, serrated, almost metallic grain — squeaky, dirty, and alive. As the piece progresses, the rhythmic density slowly dissolves. By slowing down the Euclidean clock that feeds the system, the space between the beats expands, allowing the melody to breathe. The loops never fully align — phrases drift, overlap, and re-emerge — resulting in a hypnotic, loosely cycling structure that resists perfect repetition. SWOB is less about control and more about observing the point where rhythmic order collapses into texture — a continuation of earlier ideas but viewed from a slightly different angle, with more friction and more air.
