Synthetic Unit Hydrograph

Developing unit hydrographs often requires extensive data, making it feasible only for select locations. For data-scarce areas, synthetic unit hydrographs, like Snyder’s and SCS methods, are used. Snyder’s method involves calculating basin lag, effective rainfall duration, peak discharge, and time base using empirical equations. The inputs required for the calculation are catchment area, L, Lca and regional constants. The SCS method uses the time of rise and lag time to calculate similar parameters. These methods simplify unit hydrograph development for various catchment areas. To develop the hydrograph using this method, we need to know the time of concentration and catchment area.
