The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40 camera that I use to film my headcam video has an option to film at 100 frames per second (fps) and save the file at 25fps, resulting in slow motion at 25% normal speed. The trade-off is that max resolution is HD720 rather than HD1080 for normal video and the saved file also has no sound.
I wanted to compare this with regular video slowed to 25% using Adobe Premiere Lite (the software I use for video editing). Frankly I struggle to see any difference in the image. The only thing I notice is the jerky background in the normal video and I think that is due to the Image stabilization that cant be turned off in regular video mode (it is off by default in slow-motion mode). The bonus of regular video mode is that you get sound :)
