I don't always do things this way, but I try to keep things fresh by working fast, and not obsessing over sounds all day. I'm not committed to any one approach, and there's always more to learn. I think I managed to take advantage of the analog tape while keeping hiss down to modern levels. But I'm always trying to get it better, improve sounds, improve workflow in the home recording studio.
