This week we need to taper a half dozen train tracks or rail for a local company. They are installing a new switch in an intersection and old rails that the switch ties into are badly worn. We are milling a half inch over a 3 foot length to smooth the transition between the old and new. These sections will then be welded into place until the other rails can be replaced in a few months. They will profile grind the transitions after welding.
