Tapping Down High Spots for PDR Beginners
We are focusing on tackling a nasty high spot and demonstrating how to achieve perfect metal flow using the Dent Vision Shock Blocker. This tool is a new, freaking heavy, heavy, stainless steel tap down, which is particularly appealing to veterans because its substantial weight helps lay down the metal flow much easier, meaning you don't have to swing your paddle or hammer as far. This "beast" has a very premium feel, featuring a stronger spring or tension and much stronger dampening than standard Dent Vision models. Throughout the video, we share essential PDR tech tips, including how to properly read the reflection using 1/8” inch lines. We explain how high spots stretch the metal, causing the reflection lines to widen. Crucially, we demonstrate the importance of ensuring you are perpendicular to the panel while tapping by checking the reflection. We start our repair using the rubber cap to minimize invasive taps and prevent slips, then switch to the Galaxy Tip Guardian (a match grade tip with a protective cover) for precise adjustments. Watch to the end as we intentionally create a low spot to show you the fix! We heat the panel slightly and use the new Diablo Cold Glue from Glexo. This cold glue is sticky and softer, making it highly effective for pulling out low spots.
