Tejas - Ruby (2020 Remaster)

This time 6 years ago I formally started my music career with Small Victories, an EP produced by Warren Mendonsa and that was made with all my friends including Aalok Padhye, Jehangir Jehangir, Adil Kurwa, Uttara Rajgopal and Krish Makhija. Last month when I decided to do a production breakdown video of 'Ruby' with Warren, he ended up doing a new mix and remaster of the song from scratch and so I'm happy to let you know that it releases on Wednesday for you to relive. The artwork is by the magical Lucy Eldridge who has been delightful to talk to in this lockdown. Her work reminded me of a more innocent time, the way I wish I could reflect on this song. I usually like to let my music do the talking, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am to each and every one of you who has shown me love because of the songs I've written. I haven't been the best person or even the best artist I can be, but every day I try to be better. For me, and for you. Life however, is not without a cruel sense of irony, even as we try to grow. A songwriter's curse it seems is that the reasons for why we write songs to begin with, never truly leave us. Their meanings merely get fuelled with newer context as we grapple with age, get imbued with newer sadnesses and in time, return as a cold embrace to haunt you once more. Hold your loved ones.
