Tendon Reflexes
Tendon or deep reflexes are mono-synaptic arcs involving a sensor, in this case stretch receptors in the tendons and muscles, afferent fibres which carries this impulse to the spinal cord, a synapse with the motor neurone, a motor neurone and a contractile element, in this case a muscle. Upper Lower Neurone Lesions cause reduced or absent reflexes in contrast to Motor Motor Neurone Lesions which result in brisk or exaggerated reflexes.
