We present a step by step beginner's intro into this important aspect of grammar. Tense verbs are one or more verbs that appear in a sentence with the condition that they may change when the subject of the sentence or time of action changes. The sentence "I want to eat apples." has two verbs; want and eat. want is the tense verb as it changes once the sentence time of action changes to the past: I wanted to eat.
