In this lecture we begin by considering vectors and covectors under Lorentz transformations. Apart from the obvious utility that these quantities have, this example is also important as a simple case of the connection between vectors and corresponding covectors. We then go on to study the metric under general linear transformation. This gives us our first example of a tensor with rank higher than one.
