Nothing is worse than getting a new garment made of the best fabric around only for the seam to be too restricting to wear. This has been on my to-do list for a very long time. Quantitative data to back up my claims that lock stitches are horrible for knit wear and how other stitch types and bonding stack up against one another.
The test is to sew on an elastic band onto a stocking using a 2 thread overlock, 2 needle cover stitch, lock stitch, and Faitplast spa's With Me tape. In order to get accurate and consistent data I am using the Dinema DSC7" sizing machine which is calibrated to 5kg. Sizing machines are staples in any hosiery manufacturing, but for someone like me who was exclusively in apparel this is brand new.
Watch the video and see which stitch type came out on top and how a sizing machine works. If you want to learn more about the With Me tape, Macpi Group's 339, Dinema's sizing machines, or garment construction feel free to reach out to me.
