Tetris (1988)
Tetris (In Russian: Тетрис) is a puzzle video game originally designed and programmed by Alexey Pajitnov in the Soviet Union. It was released on June 6, 1984, while he was working for the Dorodnicyn Computing Centre of the Academy of Science of the USSR in Moscow, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. He derived its name from the Greek numerical prefix tetra- (all of the game's pieces contain four segments) and tennis, Pajitnov's favorite sport. Gameplay: Players must arrange falling blocks to clear lines. The game speeds up as players progress, increasing the challenge. Compete against yourself to achieve the highest score. Players can compete against each other, adding a competitive edge to the gameplay. The game offers various difficulty settings, allowing players to choose their preferred challenge level. The arcade version was launched in February 1988. Tetris quickly became a staple in arcades due to its engaging gameplay and competitive features. It is often regarded as one of the most influential video games in history. Tetris has been recognized for its impact on the gaming industry and is frequently cited as one of the greatest games ever made.
