The action potential is how the neurons send signals, or heart muscles create beats, or endocrine system controls the release of hormones.
The action potential is the rapid rise and fall of the membrane potential. And the membrane potential is the charge difference in/out the cell membrane. The membrane potential is defined by the moving potassium and sodium ions through the membrane using ion gates.
