The Dala Horse
A Dala horse or Dalecarlian horse (Swedish: Dalahäst) is a traditional carved and painted wooden horse statuette originating in Swedish province Dalarna. In the old days the Dala horse was mostly used as a toy for children; in modern times it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as Sweden in general. Coming with distinctive shapes and often different sizes, those horses are not only a childhood memory for people who live in Dalarna, but become a pretty big industry for them. The special feelings and emotions towards both horses and horse statuette are deep rooted in each Swedish people. Sometimes when the country is lack of hands for exporting wooden horse products to the world, people voluntarily sit down and paint their first horses, and they are just perfect! #SubscribetoWoodCulture 🌲 ❤ https://www.youtube.com/user/WoodCulture #SubscribetoWorldWoodDay 🌱 ❤ https://goo.gl/yXyxyg 🌳 ☑World Wood Day Foundation: worldwoodday.org ☑WWD Facebook: facebook.com/worldwoodday ☑WWD Instagram: www.instagram.com/worldwoodday 🌳 ✎IWCS: www.iwcs.com ✎Wood Culture: www.woodculture.org ✎Facebook: www.facebook.com/internationalwoodculturesociety Copyright © 2018 International Wood Culture Society.
