Here is a quick tutorial showing you what the difference is between watercolor paint and gouache paint. Both are considered water soluble, which means you can wet them and spread them with water. Unlike oil or acrylic, that once dry you can not rework; watercolor and gouache can always be rewet and worked again, even once completely dry. The main difference is that traditional watercolor paint is transparent (can see through) while gouache is opaque (can not see through).
