Seminar Full Title: The Dissemination and Implementation Science Landscape: Breadth, Depth, and Novel Intersections Implementation Science Seminar Series | University of Wisconsin - Madison | September 2025 The Implementation Science Seminar Series is an interactive, monthly seminar (via Zoom) to learn about the four pillars of the Dissemination and Implementation field: implementation theory, implementation methods, implementation strategies, and implementation laboratories. Seminar Description: This session provides a broad overview and introduction to the Dissemination and Implementation field and will introduce the fundamental pillars of implementation science that the course will explore. Dr. Ellis will also explore areas where the D&I scientific literature intersects with other fields of study and provides opportunity for innovation and discovery. Speaker: Shellie Ellis, MA, PhD, is a health services researcher and implementation scientist dedicated to understanding optimal ways to support implementation of evidence-based practice in community practice settings, where the majority of care is delivered in the U.S. She has more than two decades of experience assessing organizational and behavioral determinants of evidence-based practice including the offer of clinical trials, active surveillance for prostate cancer, and guideline-based genomic testing to direct targeted cancer therapy. She is a recent Principal Investigator of an NIGMS-funded study Precision Community to identify determinants of community oncologists’ use of targeted cancer treatment, which led to a team-based implementation intervention, TEAMSPORT, to support precision oncology reflex testing. Throughout her career, she has sought strategies to increase the reach of healthcare innovation to rural communities and to improve recruitment to clinical research, culminating in being named a Visiting Scholar to the NCI in 2019 to develop implementation strategies to enhance rural cancer care delivery research participation. Dr. Ellis is currently Visiting Professor of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and serves as the Director of the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Science Dissemination and Implementation Launchpad. She is an alum of MT-DIRC, the NCI-sponsored Mentored Training in Dissemination and Implementation in Cancer Research program, and Associate Editor of Implementation Science Communications.
