The Dunkirk evacuation, also known as Operation Dynamo, was a dramatic rescue operation that took place during the early stages of World War II. As German forces rapidly advanced through France, hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops were trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk. In response, the British government organized a massive evacuation effort using naval vessels and hundreds of civilian boats.
