The Great Beyond - R.E.M.

Canción perteneciente a la Kaufman, uno de los cómicos másbanda sonora de la película Man on the Moon (1999) inspirada en la vida del comediante estadounidense Andy populares y revulsivos de los Estados Unidos, que entró a la categoría de mito al morir con apenas 35 años. Prefería denominarse a sí mismo como "artista de variedades" asegurando "nunca he contado un chiste en mi vida". Es uno de los exponentes del movimiento de anti-humor, no contaba chistes, sino que elaboraba complejas bromas tanto sobre como bajo los escenarios con el fin de tanto sorprender como engañar a su audiencia, dando lugar a experiencias surrealistas. La pelicula fue protagonizada por Jim Carrey. Para la pelicula Carrey decidió honrar a su ídolo llevando su actuación al extremo, y le pidió a un equipo de camarógrafos que lo siguiera incluso cuando no estuvieran rodando la producción, para así dejar un registro de su proceso creativo. El comportamiento de Carrey en el set fue todo menos normal: durante los días de filmación, el actor no se salió nunca del personaje, actuando y refiriéndose a sí mismo como Kaufman incluso cuando no estaba filmando. A veces iba más allá, y se metía en la piel de Tony Clifton, uno de los personajes inventados de Kaufman; un cantante extremadamente grosero. Kaufman era tan asociado a su extrema forma de hacer humor que muchos piensan, hasta el día de hoy, que fingió su muerte. La canción se transformó en un hit y fue incluida en el álbum recopilatorio In Time: The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003. "Nos pasamos nuestras vidas buscando anclas.
