The Happy Couple

This dance is a 1716 choreography by Nathaniel Kynaston published by Walsh. We are once more indebted to Andrew Shaw for bringing this dance to the repertoire. It is beautifully played by Persons of Quality the american Band.I have altered the first part which is in menuet time : originally, the figure was set and turn followed by half a circular hey : in order to get all six dancers moving from start, I changed the figure into the "z" figure so linked with "le menuet de cour".A pretty baroque hornpipe follows supporting a very good second part. Elle est jouée ici par le groupe américain Persons of Quality. J'ai substitué la figure du "z" si caractéristique du menuet de cour à la figure prescrite qui était une demi-chaîne. Suit un autre 3 temps de type hornpipe pour une 2° partie variée et élégante Nous avons enregistré cette danse lors de la pratique de décembre 2019
