The Hebrew conjunction Vav (most commonly translated as "and") occurs over 5,000 times in the Old Testament! Moreover, the conjunction plays an important role in constructing the meaning of a sentence. A proper interpretation of the biblical text, therefore, requires the various ways this conjunction functions and can be translated within a passage! In this lecture, I introduce the seven different nuances of the conjunction vav in the Hebrew Bible.
