"The Island" is about the Great Blasket island off the coast of Kerry. The last inhabitants left the island in 1953, everyone on the island only spoke Irish, their native natural tongue. Some of Irelands most famous writers, the likes of Tomás Ó Criomhthain and Peig Sayers, came from the island.
