The Jug First Float
The restoration of The Jug in Tyler County is complete, and it is ready for you to explore this summer! The project, a collaborative effort by the Division of Natural Resources, and the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) involved a critical rehabilitation of the low-water crossing, which had become impassable due to flooding and erosion. This work was essential because the impassable crossing had reduced stream flow, leaving the meander largely devoid of fish, and cut off access to this section of the 2,848-acre Jug Wildlife Management Area. The completed low-water crossing now: - Reestablishes vehicular access to the Jug WMA - Increases stream flow along the original creek channel - Confirms the river trail is safe for kayakers and fishermen The best part? The Jug's three and a half-mile loop ends just feet away from where you begin, which means no shuttle required! Making this spot in Tyler County West Virginia a dream location for all kayakers and fishermen!
