The Mercury Snake
In this video I show how to make Mercury (II) Thiocyanate from mercury and potassium thiocyanate. This chemical was historically used as a small pyrotechnic toy; that when ignited would produce a slowly-growing "snake" of graphitic carbon nitride. While versions of this pyrotechnic still exist, the mercury version I make in this video was quickly taken off the market when its toxicity became evident. Let me know as always if I made any mistakes or left anything out. Enjoy! NOTE: There is a typo around 3:16, the double-displacement products are mercury thiocyanate and potassium nitrate. I incorrectly wrote potassium thiocyanate as a product on both sides.. lazy mistake lol Join this channel to get access to perks and support my work: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw8axYTp2BtinEmM_rdzUjQ/join MUSIC: Outro: Stardust (Danijel Zambo) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaAcCmS10io CHAPTERS ____________________ ___________________________________________
