The "Open World" Spectrum

Would you describe Dark Souls 1's map as an "open world" in the same way that you would Elden Ring? They share loads of features that, in a vacuum, could categorize them similarly, but naturally, Dark Souls 1's world generally isn't referred to as open in that way.
