Currently, there's a trend going on that bashes "Performative Men." These are men typically characterized as those who matcha, wears a tote bag, reads books in public spaces, and listens to female artists like Laufey and Clairo with wired earbuds. In short, they're those that lean less towards traditional masculinity due to their "quirkiness"
But there's a number of problems with the trend, such as the fact that it leans toward anti-intellectualism and damages people who are honest with themselves just because a small group have decided that it's the "fun new thing" to make fun of these so-called "performative men."
This video aims to discuss my thoughts surrounding the trend and the discourse surrounding it.
