Clues like Ramb remembering a Dark World we never visited, the “unknown” zone filled with Titan symbols and dark residue, and the sealed door marked with a human SOUL suggest something larger: Castle Town may be the product of a previous cycle, created after a Roaring that already happened… maybe one where Dess never returned.
