The Shadows - Footapper

Here is the final Shadows track from my recent two day recording session (10 Shads tracks for a new album). Footapper is one of the more involved and energetic Shadows tracks to play. I'm always a little nervous when doing this live - the high tempo, the stops, the accents, the snare solo and the awkward fill at the end - it all makes for a full on, high concentration few minutes! The key to the feel on this track is the splashes on the hats. It really makes the track. Brian Bennett plays it so effortlessly and it took me ages to get this aspect down when I first learned this a few years ago. And the snare solo of course, whilst in many respects could be said to be straightforward, is frightening simply because it is all too easy to lose time or speed up. You really have to keep focussed and keep listening to the band, praying they stay with you and you all come out together! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this. The backing track is original Shadows, with the drums (mostly) removed. So what you hear on this video is 95% my drums, and just a few artefacts from the original drums. I used XTrax Stems II software. Please listen with quality headphones if you can!
