“The Solid Rock” (Inspired by Psalm 66:20)
(Verse 1) He does not turn a deafened ear to me, When shadows fall and quiet whispers rise. His presence is the light by which I see, A constant flame beneath the evening skies. (Verse 2) The world may fail and friends may drift away, But He remembers every word I speak. He hears the heavy heart that tries to pray, And gives the quiet comfort that I seek. (Chorus) He has not turned away from my appeal, Nor pulled His mercy from my reaching hand. His promises are faithful, true and real, The solid rock on which I choose to stand. (Verse 3) No distant god who dwells beyond my reach, He bends to hear the secrets of my soul. His loving kindness is the silent speech, That heals the broken heart and makes it whole. (Bridge) He has not closed His heart or turned His face, But keeps my every tear within His sight. He holds me in the arms of sovereign grace, And turns the deepest dark to morning light. (Chorus) He has not turned away from my appeal, Nor pulled His mercy from my reaching hand. His promises are faithful, true and real, The solid rock on which I choose to stand. Psalm 66:20 Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
