I chose The Steppes because I wanted the album to begin with a sense of openness, movement, and endurance. Mongolia carries that naturally through its vast grasslands and horse-centered heritage, which give the track a feeling of freedom and strength. The cultural reference that stood out most to me here was the deep bond between Mongolian identity and horseback life across the open steppe.
