The Vines - Homesick (A# Session)

The Vines' Early Recordings: A# Session Date: April 25, 1999 Tracks: In The Jungle, Ride, Homesick, She To Me, Rainfall, and Winning Days Availability: Part of the 6 track demo and the 19 track demo, available via the net and bootleg CD's Producer: Glenn Santry Situated on a shopping strip on the 'dark side' of Riverwood, the A# Session was the band's first attempt at recording in a studio. Locals refer to the 'dark side' and the 'light side' of Riverwood. On the 'dark' side we have an environment that can only be described as 'hostile', where it is advisable to avoid eye contact at all times. It is Sydney's version of South Central, LA, but with boomerangs instead of AK 47 assault rifles. On the other 'light' side you can dance freely down the street, wear a tutu and express your feminine side without the fear of being damaged. Equipped with a baguette sized Casio keyboard and all the rock and roll essentials, the band produced three tracks during this session. This and the following session normally spanned twelve hours, from noon until midnight. At this stage everything was financed by the boys themselves so, regretfully, they could not afford to buy the master tape of this recording. What we have left are copies of the master tape. Still highly listenable, they were partly responsible for grabbing the attention of Engine Room and securing a record deal.
