I've been ill (again) and thus, videos have been nonexistent, so take this as an offering. This was never going to be a song. It started as me messing around in Suno, seeing what I could do with it, and one generation resonated with me so much that I started refining the lyrics and sound and well, here we are. I struggle with loneliness and commitment. I'm reliably informed by a therapist its a repeating, self-sabotaging cycle born of past trauma: expecting every relationship, romantic or otherwise, to end in betrayal, and thus I leave before it can happen. When I prompted for a song about a lone wanderer and was given a song about a traveler who leaves before the dawn, as temporary as smoke from a flame, it really set it's hooks into me. Hopefully it speaks to someone else in similar circumstances in the same way, and for others, a glimpse through the window on a tired, world-weary soul.
