Always change thermal paste after about 2 or 3 years on what ever you are using. Manufacturers will always tell you "just use canned air and you're fine" . That never cleans the dust out of old consoles. After building systems for 20 years I can tell you that spreading the thermal paste as thin as possible will dissipate more heat than the blob or rice grain method.
