Matthew Wall, Hazard Mitigation Program Manager and State Hazard Mitigation Officer will present the webinar “Understanding THIRA”.The presentation will include a general discussion of Virginia’s existing FEMA Threat Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) process, an emphasis on the new Virginia Code requirement §2.2-222.1, paragraph D (located at: http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?000+cod+2.2-222.1) for a “Commonwealth THIRA (C-THIRA).” Specifics include: basic recap of efforts to date; projected future incorporation of local and regional inputs into the processes; how the THIRA ‘feeds’ the State Preparedness Report (SPR), and; how this impacts emergency planning.
