This simple idea can unlock your vibraphone comping

PDF: https://www.timcollinsmusic.com/chord-voicing-lesson-3rds-7ths-one Some students really struggle to learn "open" voicings on the vibraphone, and for this video I'm trying something a bit different - instead of explaining the technicalities of each voicing from the root upwards, I'm going to just use one or two simple melodies in the right hand, and these will result in the type of open voicings we want. It requires mastering the knowledge of 3rds and 7ths on an F Blues progression, and then thinking melodically on top of that. I hope the information is pretty clear in the video - as usual, I've made some visual effects to help you keep track of what's going on on the instrument.
