Thompson Field Services
THOMPSON FIELD SERVICES BUILDS SUCCESS ON RELIABILITY, RELATIONSHIPS, AND POWERSCREEN MACHINERY In the Permian Basin—where roads stretch wide and the demand for quality aggregate never slows—Thompson Field Services has built a name on reliability, performance, and trust. Led by Alan Thompson, the company has evolved into a full-service operation managing 26 aggregate sites across West Texas, all powered by Powerscreen Texas machinery. Their main hub sits on a 190-acre site in Midland, but their reach spans from Orla to Lubbock to San Angelo. Known for consistency and quality, Thompson Field Services delivers top-grade materials that keep West Texas construction moving. FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT TO LIMESTONE Alan Thompson didn’t start in aggregates. After 23 years in law enforcement and eight in private oilfield security, he joined the company his brother, Tallian, founded in 2014. A year later, Alan took over. “I had never worked for myself before,” Alan shared. “But I knew I wanted to take the chance—and I’m glad I did.” Today, Thompson Field Services runs an optimized spread of Powerscreen equipment, including a Terex Pegson 1412 Horizontal Impact Crusher, Chieftain 2100X Inclined Screen, 1000 Maxtrak Cone Crusher, and a Powerscreen CT100 Stacking Conveyor. The process begins with the 1412 impact crusher breaking down raw feed, followed by screening on the Chieftain 2100X. Clean material is stacked by the CT100 conveyor, while oversize is rerouted through the 1000 Maxtrak cone for final sizing. This closed-loop setup allows them to meet precise specifications for every order. Roughly 75% of production is road base (2–3 inch minus), followed by 57 rock, Caliche base, Chat, Oversize, and Millings—serving municipal, industrial, and commercial projects across the region. RELIABILITY THAT MOVES WITH YOU “One of the best features of these tracked machines is how quickly we can move and get them running,” Alan said. With 26 sites under management, mobility and uptime are crucial. The company oversees every step—from site prep to logistics—so reliable machinery is key. When Alan started, the company owned only two crushers; today, it runs 11 crushers—a testament to steady growth and confidence in Powerscreen. “Powerscreen keeps evolving,” Alan said. “They come out with bigger and better machines, and that drives us to keep growing, to stay on pace with the market.” PARTS, SERVICE, AND PEACE OF MIND The relationship with Powerscreen Texas runs deep. “Powerscreen has always been accommodating, especially in hard times,” Alan said. “They’ve seen the bigger picture—not just a paycheck. My loyalty lies with Powerscreen Texas, always.” Sales representative Stephen Devane stands out as a key partner. “Stephen is my right-hand man,” Alan said. “He always answers when I call and takes great care of us.” Thompson Field Services performs 90% of its own maintenance thanks to a skilled in-house crew trained with support from Powerscreen Texas. “We’ve put in thousands of man-hours learning these machines,” Alan noted. “If we switched brands, we’d be walking away from all that knowledge—and we’re not doing that.” BUILT TO PRODUCE With a daily production goal of 2,800 tons, Powerscreen machinery consistently delivers. Their record—4,500 tons in a 16-hour day—proved what the equipment can do under pressure. “The equipment is reliable, efficient, and it lasts,” Alan said. Quick access to parts also keeps operations running smoothly. “If you’re going to invest that kind of money,” Alan emphasized, “you want equipment that’s going to last. The longevity and reliability Powerscreen delivers are unmatched.” CRUSHING FORWARD With a strong team, trusted partners, and a clear vision, Thompson Field Services continues to raise the bar for aggregate production in West Texas. “We’ll always stick with Powerscreen Texas as our supply partner,” Alan said. “They’ve helped us get here—and we’re just getting started.”
