Time Based Data Import in WellCAD
The video demonstrates how to import time-based data into WellCAD using several CSV file formats. It begins with a standard import process via the “File, Import, Single File” menu, specifying that the data is comma-delimited, with no unit row, and logs are in seconds. The date-time format is set as day-month-year hours:minutes:seconds, and after import, the data is checked and visualized in the Tabular Editor. Display settings are then adjusted for example, switching time scale from seconds to days and setting a grid spacing of 86,400 seconds (1 day). The video then covers how to handle a dataset where date and time are split into two separate columns. The process pairs these columns during import and uses the same time format logic. Again, the imported logs are visualized with display settings adjusted (e.g., line thickness, scale spacing). Lastly, the video shows importing a third file using the American date format (month-day-year). Since this format isn’t available by default, the user manually defines the custom time format. The data is imported, verified, and displayed with appropriate scale and visualization settings.
