Tipta
Tipta follows Lil'wat elder Bernard Dick, aka Tipta, a musician, land defender, and builder who returned to his family's territory to construct an off-grid home and reconnect with Lil'wat language and culture after decades working on the railroads, horse logging , and on the road as a travelling musician. The film is built from a series of conversations recorded on Tipta's property in 2010, caught whenever director Mark O'Krafka could find him. Unhurried, unscripted, on Tipta's terms. An earlier version screened at the Richmond International Film Festival. The film was originally made as an installation for the Café for Contemporary Art in North Vancouver, BC, with no budget and the help of volunteers.
