In this video, the technique of acid-base titration will be explained using phenolphthalein as an example of an acid-base indicator. This is a very important chemistry lab technique that relies on special glassware, a burette, to allow for controlled delivery of one reactant (the titrant) to another reactant of unknown identity or concentration (the analyte). The Titration formula is MaVa = MbVa, which specifies that, at the equivalence point, the moles of acid and the moles of base are equal. The endpoint is the point in the titration at which the indicator used changes color.
