Toby Carrig on "Journalistic Photography"

On Oct. 24, 2023, Toby Carrig joined Newton Public Library's Fourth Tuesday Photography club for a presentation on "Journalistic Photography," sharing highlights from his career as a photojournalist. One memorable assignment was covering the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002. In October 2023, Carrig was the coordinator of Newton's Convention & Visitors Bureau. He previously worked as tourism director for St. Genevieve, Missouri, and Marysville, Kansas. Before entering the tourism industry, Carrig attended college at Vanderbilt and had a 33-year career in journalism at both daily and weekly newspapers, serving as a reporter, editor and owner.
