Always a debate this topic is, with mixed opinions and strangely different experiences. After many years of honing engine blocks, I have seen results vary greatly. Sometimes cylinders distort a lot and sometimes not so much if at all. The biggest factor I have noticed in whether or not a customer will go for it, is the extra cost vs salesman routine. Because I have seen cylinders do some funky stuff and I believe bore and honing costs are already quite high(at least in my area). I made them part of the resizing routine at regular pricing. I'm not the only one in my area that has done so either. I couldn't justify adding a premium for how little some blocks move, even though others move quite a bit, let alone try to upsell such minimal detail at the added charge some shops apply. The 350 Chevy 010 block in this video averaged half a thousandths distortion in most cylinders, with a couple moving a bit more. Not really that much, certainly not worth some of the added fees I've seen abd heard for plate use.
