Trangkil 4 was famous for being the last steam locomotive built in England for traditional purposes in 1971. At Trangkil, it faced in the opposite direction to the other three locomotives which meant that it worked 'backwards' on the south lines towards Pati. Generally, I concentrated on the other lines, mainly that to Nguren, when it was the right way around and the mill staff were always happy to roster it as such if traffic was on offer. Elsewhere on this channel you can see such operations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw3uwz0rleQ but this video shows the locomotive in 1991/1993/1994/1995 generally on the first day of my annual visit when it would already be out and about when I arrived in the early afternoon. Note also from the 'beat' how the quality of maintenance declined over the years, I am told that Hackworth valve gear is not easy to set if you haven't been taught how to do it properly.
