Treating a Calf for Bloat
Treating a Calf for Bloat. Goliath, one of our bottle calves, bloats and as gas expands we work fast to relieve the pressure before it becomes fatal. Treatment includes a quart of water with 1lbs of baking soda dissolved to combat the gasses, and a quart of vegetable oil to reduce the froth in the rumen. We also treat him with penicillin to kill the bacteria releasing the gas.
