Turna (Crane)
Turna (crane in Turkish) -A Nava Dance Installation “Are the days of Damascus finished? Is the eyeliner of the beautiful eyes fading away? Oh Turna (crane) of Bagdat & Basra, oh Turna (crane) there is a message from the beloved, don’t be late, don’t be late……..” Song “Turna” by Kardes Turkuler Video shot & Edited by Nitai Shalom Choreography & Dance led by Miriam Peretz Cranes are known for their beautiful elegance and long wing span. In cultures around the world (especially in the East) they symbolize freedom, good luck, immortality, blessings & happiness. The grace of the crane in flight symbolizes the grace of the divine and the quest for knowledge and truth. For the Alevi Bektashi people, the crane symbolizes the wise and enlightened beings (commonly associated with Imam Ali.) Thus, the message of the crane is to dance in life! Lose yourself in the beauty around you! They love being with their herds, living peacefully with each other, they are grateful for their companions as they fly in beautiful flocking formations.
