Tutorial# 11 Generating contours using DEM from USGS
To generate contours using DEM from USGS it is required to have the following tools 1. Download the DEM from USGS or Earthexplorer 2. Install Global mapper 3. Install Google earth 4. Install Surfer 5. Notepad++ Note: The rest of the tutorial follow the steps I am going to carry out in this tutorial In the folder I already have my .DEM: ASTGTM2_S13E027_dem I. I will now run the Global mapper to expot the Coordinates II. I will now open the - ASTGTM2_S13E027_dem in Global mapper III. Change the projection to your own preference in this case I will use the GSW1984 OR 84 IV. I will change from geographic to Universal transversal marcator (UTM) V. Sorry I forgot one software. It is of great to have installed the notepad++ so that you can open the file exported from global mapper VI. After that step you need to perform Interporation using the Golden Sofware Surfer applying the Kriging Method VII. Open the file and save it using the .txt extension VIII. Now we are ready to run the interporation IX. The file with the same name as the text file will be generated X. To generate a .KML .KMZ you need to disactivate the Right Axis, Left Axis,Top Axis and the Bottom Axis Muchas gracias por su atencíon Thank you for your attention 感谢您们的关注
